Dowsing Group was engaged to supply and install TL5 concrete road safety barriers along the private haulage road. All works were successfully completed via night shifts to work around other works and optimise efficiency.
Prior to commencing full-scale barrier construction, a 5m trial section was completed and approved by the Superintendent, aligning with MRWA specifications. All concrete barriers were constructed per MRWA Specification 603, Section 603.34, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

The comprehensive scope of works highlights Dowsing Group’s expertise in delivering road infrastructure construction:
- Supply and drainage slot installation inclusive of earthworks and concrete footings.
- Installation of 4km TL5 concrete barriers (1070mm high).
- Installation of 10km modified TL5 concrete barriers (1550mm high).
- 90lm FRP concrete barrier end treatments & infills
- 12x quad guard footings
To support slipform operations, standalone concrete plinth footings (200mm thick) were installed under each drainage slot to withstand pressure. Each plinth was excavated using a mini digger to the required dimensions, with concrete poured and screeded flush with the existing pavement level. HDG block-outs were secured to the plinth using Excalibur bolts, allowing for lateral adjustments to avoid clashes with the mould.
Dowsing Group adhered to the head contractor WHS requirements and MRWA standards, ensuring compliance through the following project-specific documentation:
- Dowsing Project Execution Strategy – Slipform Barrier Construction
- Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
- Completion of contractor CRAW
- Completion of contractor ITP
